Mother Berta
Faucette
Jul 27, 1939 — Oct 29, 2026
Her Life and Legacy
Mrs. Berta Jean Lee Faucette, affectionately known as “Mother Berta,” of Gibsonville, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
She was born on July 27, 1939, in Alamance County to the late Elbert and Dorthy James Lee. She was educated in the Alamance County School System and graduated from Jordan Sellars High School. She furthered her education at Mount Vernon Hospital School of Nursing in Mount Vernon, New York, Alamance Community College, and Guilford Technical Community College.
Berta retired from the Guilford County School System in 1999 after 25 years of dedicated service, having worked at Sedalia Elementary School and Rankin Elementary School.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and faithfully served in ministry throughout her life and she remained steadfast in her determination to live a holy life pleasing to her Lord and Savior. Mother Berta was a faithful and dedicated member of Evangel Fellowship where she is highly remembered by her leadership of the Children’s Nursery, “The Kingdom”, she was the First Mother of Rehoboth Christian Center where her son Mark pastored, and Unity Worship Center. Wherever she worshipped, she willingly gave of herself and sacrificed to help the ministry grow.
On May 8, 1960, Berta was united in marriage to Esau Faucette, Jr., who preceded her in death. She was a committed and devoted wife, and their union was blessed with four children.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, James Elbert Lee, Ann McClure, and John Lee.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her three daughters, Lisa Michelle Faucette, Dorothy Yvette Faucette Phillips, and Valerie Sharohn Faucette Smith; and her son, Pastor Mark Anthony Faucette, Sr., and his wife, Mayra A. Faucette, of Houston, Texas.
Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren: Angelica Dennis Moore and her husband, Marcel Moore; Josiah Smith IV; Mark A. Faucette II; Gabrielle J. Smith; Marlana J. Phillips; Matthew A. Faucette; Miguel A. Faucette; and Serenity D. Phillips. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Kyron Marcel Moore, Mia Moore, and Ariana Ella Moragne. She is also survived by her sisters, Doris Lloyd and Linda Tunstall; Linda’s husband, Melvin; and her foster sister, Eunyce Hall, and other relatives and cherished friends.
Mother Berta's enduring legacy of faith, devotion, service, and love will remain in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
