Michele Allison Griffith was born on April 20, 1961, on East Coast Road in Belleplaine, St. Andrew, Barbados, to the late Aubyn Neblett and the late Magnol Neblett. She attended Alleyne School, where she formed lifelong friendships that she treasured throughout her life. 

In 1980, Michele migrated to Brooklyn, New York, where she built a beautiful life for more than 30 years before purchasing her home and planting roots in Greensboro, North Carolina. 

During her years in New York, Michele pursued higher education at New York City College of Technology, where she studied Accounting, and later attended John Jay College, taking courses in Criminal Justice and Public Administration. She went on to serve with distinction as a Correction Officer with the New York City Department of Correction at Rikers Island, eventually retiring after years of dedicated service. Michele often referred to her work as serving “behind the gate” and believed that every person deserved to be treated with dignity and respect—a principle she carried with her throughout her career. 

A woman of unwavering faith, Michele lived a life devoted to God. She was a faithful member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she found joy in worship, fellowship, and service. 

Michele embraced life with curiosity and gratitude. She had a passion for traveling and made it a point to take a trip each year, believing there was always something new to discover and appreciate about the world and its many cultures. 

Those who knew Michele will remember her warm smile, infectious laughter, generous spirit, and unwavering honesty. She never hesitated to speak her mind, but always did so with a heart that genuinely cared for others. Whether offering advice, sharing a laugh, or simply being present, Michele had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved even in the midst of her own challenges that she faced. 

Michele was the beloved mother of her daughter, the late Dionne Marville, and her son, Trevor Depeiza Jr.; the cherished grandmother of Lena Marville-Singh; and the beloved mother-in-law of Nadia Feracho. 

She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings, Pearson Griffith, Ovid Griffith, Nyle Griffith, Amiel Neblett, and Frank Devonish; the Griffith, Weekes, Clarke, Alleyne, Neblett, Bradshaw, Hinkson, Brewster, and Mahon families; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. 

She also leaves to cherish her memory her dear friends Donna Atherley, Esther Archer, Monica Smith, Celeste Clarke, Carole Downes and Sandra Chandler. 

Though Michele’s earthly journey has come to an end, the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the legacy she leaves behind will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
